Toyota U.S. Sales Rise 6.7% in May

June 2, 2010
Memorial weekend was the top selling weekend so far this year.

Toyota sold 162,813 units in the U.S. in May which was an increase of 6.7% from May of last year.

The company said monthly sales peaked last weekend, which was extended by a Memorial Day holiday.

"Memorial Day weekend kicked off the summer selling season with a bang, resulting in our best-selling weekend of the year," said Don Esmond, senior vice-president of automotive operations for Toyota Motor Sales, USA.

"As Toyota maintains its leadership position as the number one retail brand in the industry for the third consecutive month, we look forward to building this momentum as we work hard to exceed our customers' expectations for quality, safety, reliability and service," Esmond said.
