German Industrial Output Declines In June

After expanding by 1.5% in May, industrial output in Germany contracted by 0.4% in June, data published by the German Economy and Technology Ministry showed on Aug. 8. The slight decrease in June was primarily a correction after the increases recorded in preceding months, analysts said.

Manufacturing output slipped by 0.7% and construction output declined by 1.2%, while energy output jumped by 3.3%.

Using a two-month comparison to iron out short-term fluctuations, pan-German industrial output expanded by 1.4% in May and June combined from the figure for March and April, the ministry calculated.
