For the third time in four months, the Conference Boards index of leading economic indicators for Germany rose in July, the most recent month for which data are available. July's gain was four-tenths of a percentage point, and the leading index now stands at 104.3 (1990=100).

"The moderate growth in the leading index in recent months suggests that the [German] economy should continue to expand in the near term," says the Conference Board, a New York-based business research group.
