The Conference Board's leading economic index for Spain rose three-tenths of a percentage point in November 2004, the most recent month for which data are available. The leading index now stands at 137.0 (1990=100).
"The current behavior of the index suggests that the [Spanish] economy will continue to grow in the near term, at about the same average rate as in the last few years," says the Conference Board, a New York-based business research group.In the past few years the Spanish economy has grown at an annual rate of 2.4%.
