RV Manufacturer to Site New Facility in Marion, Ind.

Feb. 19, 2010
Earthbound Recreational Vehicles LLC, a Middlebury, Ind.-based maker of fuel-efficient recreational vehicles, announced that it will site a new manufacturing operation in Marion, Ind., creating up to 300 new jobs by 2013.

Formed in 2008, the company said it will invest in the purchase of new equipment and make upgrades to an existing facility located at 1001 East 38th St. The company plans to lease 92,000 square feet of the building for its assembly operations and headquarters.

Earthbound RV expects to add 60 jobs in 2010 and employ approximately 300 people at an hourly rate above $18 per hour by the end of 2013.

Earthbound RV said it chose the city of Marion in part because the city has assisted in securing over $2 million in investment capital, and the state of Indiana has committed an additional $1 million in training grants for employees and corporate tax credits.

"The confidence and embrace from the city of Marion for our technologically advanced product line and future endeavors has been unparalleled," said C. David Hoefer, Earthbound RV co-founder, chairman and CEO. "We will begin production during the month of March and increase production as quality standards allow. Our resolve to be unequaled in quality and value is absolute."

The company also noted that having three Indiana Wesleyan University graduates in the company (two of C. David Hoefers sons and Earthbound COO Bill Hughes) played a significant role in the decision to choose Marion, where the university is located.
