The Council of Great Lakers Governors announced the signing of more than two dozen new business agreements worth $10 billion in new U.S. sales to China. "The partnerships forged today will create many new jobs throughout our region and the country," said Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle. "I am proud that we have been able to take this important step to strengthen our national and regional manufacturing base."
The signings were held in conjunction with the Governors' Forum on Chinese Trade and Investment in the Great Lakes Region. The Forum provided an opportunity for visiting Chinese officials to network with state and regional business leaders while learning more about the many opportunities to invest in the Great Lakes region. The event marks another business partnership that has been growing quickly since Doyle opened the Council of Great Lakes Governors' office in Shanghai, China, in 2003.
