Its index of leading economic indicators for Spain plummeted seven-tenths of a percentage point in February, says the New York based Conference Board. The index now stands at 136.2 (1990=100).
During the six months ending in February, business research group's leading index for Spain rose four-tenths of a percent, consistent with the pattern of slight growth the index has shown for about a year. "The sluggish growth of the leading index in recent months suggests that [Spain's] economy will continue to grow in the near term, but probably somewhat below the moderate rate of the last two years," says the Conference Board.
