Taiwan's June Exports Up 21%

Taiwan's exports in June rose 21.3% from a year earlier to a record high of US$24.35 billion on rising demand from parts of Asia and Europe, the government said July 7. The June figure compared with a 20.5% rise to $23.60 billion recorded in May.

The island's imports in June rose 22.5% year-on-year to $22.86 billion.

Last month, Taiwan recorded $1.49 billion in trade surplus, compared with $2.21 billion in May.

In June, exports of mechanical and machinery products rose 7.6% from a year earlier to $10.16 billion and exports of electronic products grew 6.2% to $5.54 billion.

Exports to China and Hong Kong rose 25.5% to $10.12 billion, while exports to the U.S. fell 2.6% to $2.63 billion.
