Chrysler said on Nov. 16 that it would add 1,100 jobs at its Ohio sport utility vehicle plant as part of a $1.7 billion investment in developing and producing new Jeep models.
The automaker said that the investment includes $500 million at the Toledo Assembly Complex in Ohio, where a second shift of production, or about 1,100 jobs, will be added.
The ramp-up in Jeep SUV production will bring total employment at the complex to over 2,800 in 2013, Sergio Marchionne, CEO of Chrysler, announced at an event with lawmakers and officials in Toledo.
The rest of the $1.7 billion will be invested in other Chrysler facilities in the United States, the company said.
