"Pure design" is how Ed Welburn, General Motors vice president of global design, describes the Cadillac CTS Coupe Concept, which received an EyesOn Design Award in the concept car category at the 2008 North American International Auto Show held earlier this year. "We did not create it because market research demanded it, nor is its shape trimmed to suit the input collected at a consumer clinic -- it is emotion on four wheels," he says.
The concept car's signature design cues include elements that hint at the look of a carefully cut diamond, according to General Motors. The elements can be seen in multiple locations, including the chrome header above the rear license plate holder.
Cadillac received additional recognition at the show for its 2009 CTS-V, which captured the production car award. The BMW X6 and the Chrysler ecoVoyager, respectively, took production and concept truck honors.
