The delivery performance of suppliers to manufacturing organizations continued to slow in May, according to the May 2008 Manufacturing Report on Business. ISM's Supplier Deliveries Index registered 53.7%, a decrease of 0.3% compared with the 54% registered in April. A reading above 50% indicates slower deliveries.
The six industries reporting slower supplier deliveries in May were: textile mills; chemical products; transportation equipment; fabricated metal products; miscellaneous manufacturing; and food, beverage & tobacco products. Those reporting faster deliveries in May were: apparel, leather & allied products; electrical equipment, appliances & components; and computer & electronic products.
