Daylight Savings Reminder

March 8, 2007
Be sure to update your systems for the "DST Bug."

If you haven't been hearing all about it already, make sure your IT infrastructure is updated for the Daylight Savings Time (DST) change happening this Sunday, March 11, 2007. In a move expected to save national energy consumption, a provision of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 extended DST by four weeks, beginning this year. However, some concern exists that the change will negatively affect computer systems -- some are even calling this the "DST Bug."

Date and time processing functions in systems and applications in countries implementing the new DST rules (U.S., Canada, Bermuda) are affected. If you're in the U.S. or Canada, visit the PDF below for a list of major vendors and patches they've released to ease the transition. If you're in Bermuda, you should not be at a computer and reading this, but download the patches anyway.
