Chrysler, which emerged from bankruptcy protection a week ago, said on June 17 it would resume production at seven of its North American assembly plants at the end of the month.
The plants -- four in the U.S., two in Canada and one in Mexico -- are to begin ramping up production the week of June 29.
"Re-start of production at other Chrysler Group assembly plants will be announced at a later date," said the company, noting that it had resumed production on May 15 at a Detroit, Mich.-based plant that makes the Dodge Viper sports car.
Chrysler also confirmed that all its plants would be closed during a previously announced two-week summer break in the weeks beginning July 13 and 20.
The new Chrysler emerged from bankruptcy protection on June 20 after just 42 days under a government-supported restructuring in which Italy's Fiat acquired a 20% stake in exchange for sharing valuable technology, vehicle platforms and powertrains.
