Leixlip, Ireland is the site of Intel's new $2 billion semiconductor manufacturing factory. The high-volume facility will use 65nm process technology on the 300 mm wafer size.

The Ireland factory joins Intel's Fab 12 in Arizonia and the D1D factory in Oregon in using the new technology. With these three factories in place, Intel is now producing more than half of its PC and server microprocessors using these process technology.

"Our manufacturing capability is key to fueling Intel's success." explained Intel president and CEO Paul Otellini. "Intel's ability to ramp advanced 65nm silicon technology into high-volume production in three factories clearly sets us apart."

Looking ahead, Intel will begin production using its next-generation 45 nm process technology in 2007.
