The 2006 IBM Global CEO Study of more than 750 of the world's top CEOs and business leaders found that 65% plan to "change their companies radically" in the next two years.

The study found that CEOs are focusing on innovation from a business and operations perspecive as opposed to solely concentrating on product development.

"It's not just product innovation any more. It's about understanding how to innovate a business model, or an operational process, or management behavior -- such as real-time risk management, collaborative pharmaceutical development, or digital film distribution," said Ginni Rometty, senior vice president, IBM Enterprise Business Services.

And where are CEOs searching for sources of innovation? More than 75% are looking to business partnerships and customer collaboration as their top source. Internal R&D ranked eight as a source for new ideas.
