Sara Lee Corp. last week announced that it will open a new, state-of-the-art sliced meat manufacturing facility in Kansas City. The plant, which becomes fully operational by 2011, is expected to employ more than 250 people.
"This industry-leading facility will reinforce our competitive advantage in value-added meats, one of Sara Lee's top strategic categories and long-term growth drivers," said CJ Fraleigh, CEO, North American Retail & Foodservice.
The company will invest more than $130 million in the 187,000 square foot facility, which will provide the scale to develop industry-leading technological processes.
