Porsche to Offer First Diesel-Powered Car in 2009

Nov. 20, 2008
The diesel engine Cayenne SUV will debut in February.

From February, the Cayenne sports utility vehicle, equipped with a diesel engine, will be available, Porsche said.

"This decision is explained by legislative changes, in Europe especially, that provide fiscal advantages for diesel cars," Porsche said.

Porsche's progressive takeover of Volkswagen, which has extensive experience with diesel engines, was another factor in the decision, it added.
