Engineering giant ABB said it had won an order worth $400 million from Kuwait's Ministry of Electricity and Water to build three new substations.

ABB will design, supply, install, test and commission the substations, which facilitate the transmission and distribution of electricity.

The group last month reported that its net profit slipped 17% in 2008 to $3.12 billion after a sharp drop in big orders from emerging markets in the fourth quarter.
