Dupont announced March 15 that it is closing four manufacturing and laboratory facilities in Europe: two in Spain, one in the Netherlands and another in Germany. This would eliminate 1,500 jobs, mostly in Europe, under a restructuring plan that aims to save $165 million.
This action is in addition to the company's announcement last month that it is cutting about 200 jobs with the closure of a laboratory in Michigan.
The plan is to save $165 million in Dupont's chemicals coating business while "rebalancing our assets toward faster growing market segments and geographies", said Terry Caloghiris, group vice president for DuPont Coatings and Color Technologies.
