Ford to Create 7,000 U.S. Jobs

Over next two years will add 2,500 manufacturing jobs and 4,000 assembly plant jobs

Ford announced on Dec. 10 that over the next two years it would hire 7,000 more U.S. workers, as the industry continues to recover from its recent slump.

The jobs, a mix of hourly and salaried posts, will be added this year and next, including 4,000 assembly plant posts and 2,500 manufacturing positions.

"Ford is finding competitive ways to engineer and build even more high-quality, fuel-efficient vehicles with technologies American consumers really want," said Mark Fields, president of Ford Americas.

Ford will hire salaried engineers to work on electric vehicles in Detroit and eight other U.S. cities, the company said.
