Toyota U.S. Sales Skid 26%

Lexus brand falls by 37.6%

Toyota Motor Co. on Nov. 3 said it sold 152,101 vehicles in the month, compared with 197,592 in October 2007, which represents a 25.9% decrease.

Sales of the Japanese automaker's nameplate Toyota vehicles fell 24.2% in October, to 135,818 vehicles, while that of the Lexus luxury brand plummeted 37.6% to 16,283 units.

Toyota-brand car sales declined 14.2% to 84,904 units and pick-up trucks, sport utility vehicles and other larger vehicles dropped 36.5% to 50,914 units.
