The Berlin-based subsidiary of Canadian group Bombardier said on Sept. 28 it had won a 1.3-billion-euro (US$1.9 billion) contract for high-speed trains in China.
Bombardier Transport said the order covered 20 trains of eight cars and 60 trains with 16 cars, with deliveries scheduled between 2012 and 2014.
The trains can reach a maximum speed of 380 kilometers (238 miles) an hour.
The company said China wanted to establish 6,000 kilometers of high-speed train transport.
Bombardier Transport currently employs more than 3,000 people in China.
