For the first time, according to the Washington, D.C.-based Human Rights Campaign Foundation, a majority of the largest U.S. firms are offering domestic partner health insurance benefits. As of this month, 51% of the 2006 Fortune 500 companies provided benefits to same-sex domestic partners, the foundation announced on June 29. It also said 86% of the companies prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation.
