Schreiner ProTech recently announced the introduction of a suite of labeling solutions designed specifically for solar cell applications. Seeking to reduce costs associated with solar cell inspection and repair, Schreiner ProTech has developed three unique labels that are able to withstand rigorous outdoor environments .
Modern photovoltaic (PV) solar modules stress both material and system demands of marking technology. Labels used for production control, track & trace, branding, power rating and nameplates must be able to permanently withstand extreme UV and weather conditions, as well as meet a number of legal requirements.
Every solar PV module manufactured today is marked with an individual code for production control purposes and definitive traceability. The code is applied in a clearly visible location at the front of the component and is required to retain its legibility, even after years of exposure to UV radiation. To address these stringent requirements, Schreiner ProTech has developed a TTR-printable, dimensionally stable Embedded Label for application directly to the EVA (ethylene-vinyl-acetate) sheet of the solar module.
In order to communicate crucial power rating data and manufacturer information on the back of solar PV modules, the company engineered specific Power Labels that fully comply with legal requirements. These important, safety-oriented nameplate labels conform to the requirements of EN 50380 and are generated directly after the module's flasher test. The labels can be integrated with additional features such as 2D or 3D holograms to ensure maximum anti-tamper protection.
Manufacturers seeking reliable protection from industrial pirates require tamper- and counterfeit-proof marking solutions. To ensure this level of protection, the Schreiner ProTech Module Branding Labels leverage Color Laser Film (CLF) technology. The CLF Label is laminated into each module, receiving a laser inscription through all glass and plastic sheet layers of the solar PV surface at the end of the manufacturing process, producing zero emissions.
