In order to fix a problem with the power steering,Honda's (IW 1000/23) luxury brand Acura will recall nearly 53,000 vehicles in the United States, the automaker said on May 17.

"Over time, the power steering hose may deteriorate and develop a fluid leak," Honda said.

"Leaking power steering fluid could lead to loss of power steering assistance or, if it leaks onto a catalytic converter it may result in smoke, or in the worst case, fire."

No crashes, injuries or fires have been reported as a result of the defect, Honda said.

The recall affects Acura's TL sedan with model years 2007-2008.
