CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – President Kelly Ortberg will take the reins as CEO of Rockwell Collins (IW 500/208), succeeding Clay Jones, who retired as CEO after nearly 34 years with the company.
Effective immediately, Ortberg, 53, also will serve on the company’s board of directors and on the board’s executive committee. Jones, 64, will continue as non-executive chairman.
“We’re fortunate to have such a proven and qualified successor as CEO,” said Anthony Carbone, the company’s lead independent director. “Kelly’s strong record of success, passion to win and extensive knowledge of our customers and business make him the ideal choice to lead Rockwell Collins into the future.”
Ortberg since 1987 has worked for Rockwell Collins and in September 2012 became president. Previously, he served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of government systems and as executive vice president and chief operating officer of commercial systems.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Iowa.
