FRANKFURT - Linde (IW 1000/221) said Friday that Wolfgang Buechele, currently head of Finnish group Kemira and a long-time manager at BASF (IW 1000/32), has been named its new chief executive effective May 2014.

Buechele, 54, was appointed by Linde's supervisory board "as a member of the executive board effective May 1, 2014 and designated CEO," the group said in a statement.

Buechele has been the CEO of chemical company Kemira since April 2012.

He also headed Hungarian chemical company BorsodChem from 2009 to 2011, prior to which he held various management positions for 20 years at BASF, Linde said.
