Four Manufacturers Expanding US Facilities and Workforce in 2026
Check out the following compilation to see how these manufacturing companies are establishing and expanding their manufacturing footprint in the U.S.
Johnson & Johnson
Johnson & Johnson announced an investment of over $1 billion in a new cell therapy manufacturing plant in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. The site will support over 4,000 construction jobs during development, and once fully operational, the facility will create over 500 biomanufacturing jobs.
“By uniting scientific excellence with state-of-the-art manufacturing and strategic investment, and by working collaboratively with our communities, we are delivering for patients and creating significant opportunities for workers and families,” says Johnson & Johnson Chairman and CEO Joaquin Duato.
This plant is part of the company’s plan to invest $55 billion in U.S. manufacturing, R&D and technology through 2029.
Genentech
Biotechnology company Genentech has more than doubled the investment in its new manufacturing facility in Holly Springs, North Carolina, to $2 billion. The facility, which is now expected to support over 500 manufacturing jobs, will produce metabolic medicines and is projected to be operational by 2029.
“This additional investment will create more high-quality jobs, strengthen local partnerships and ensure a resilient supply of medicines for years to come, allowing us to bring life-changing medicines to patients faster and more reliably,” says Genentech CEO Ashley Magargee.
The company broke ground on the new manufacturing site in August last year, and project development will support 1,500 construction jobs.
Siemens Energy
Siemens Energy will invest $1 billion to expand its manufacturing operations and workforce in the U.S. The investment includes the construction of a new high-voltage switchgear plant in Mississippi, as well as facility upgrades for numerous existing facilities in North Carolina, Alabama, Florida, New York and Texas. The investment is expected to add more than 1,500 new jobs and increase production capacity for
- Power transformers
- Gas turbines and parts
- Copper and insulation electrical components for generators
- Compression equipment
The company will also create a training center as well as expand partnerships with trade schools and universities.
LS Cable & System USA
LS Cable & System USA has announced it will expand its Tarboro, North Carolina, manufacturing facility with a $50 million investment. Two new Continuous Catenary Vulcanization (CCV) production lines will enable increased capacity for medium-voltage power distribution cable manufacturing to meet growing energy infrastructure needs. The facility is slated to increase total jobs from 250 to 335.
“This investment allows LS Cable & System USA to significantly scale our medium-voltage manufacturing capabilities while maintaining the high standards our customers expect,” said LS Cable & System USA President and CEO Taewon Son. “The Tarboro facility has a strong operational foundation, and these new CCV lines will enable us to grow alongside our customers and support critical infrastructure projects across the country.”
