Forecast: What's In Demand?

Demand for pressure-sensitive tape, reinforced plastics and janitorial equipment will continue to grow.

The Freedonia Group Inc., a Cleveland-based industry research firm, offers demand projections on numerous direct and indirect materials. Reports are available for purchase via the company's Web site: www.freedoniagroup.com.

Pressure-sensitive tape: Global demand is projected to grow 4.7% annually to more than 30 billion square meters through 2010. Sales will rise 5.3% annually to $26.5 billion as raw material costs stabilize.

Reinforced plastics: U.S. demand is expected to increase 2.8% annually to 4.2 billion pounds in 2011, valued at $8.1 billion. This will create a market for 2.8 billion pounds of resin and 1.4 billion pounds of reinforcements.

Janitorial equipment and supplies: U.S. demand (excluding chemical products) is projected to increase 3.3% per year, approaching $7.6 billion in 2011.
