In addition to automakers, several goods manufacturers are joining forces with fuel-cell makers. Here is just a sampling of what is on the horizon.

  • Electrolux LLC is partnering with Manhattan Scientifics Inc. and Lunar Design to develop a fuel-cell-powered vacuum cleaner.
  • Coleman Powermate's AirGen fuel cell generator gets its technology from Ballard Power Systems.
  • Deere & Co. is working with Hydrogenics Corp. to develop a fuel-cell-powered commercial work vehicle.
  • Aprilia SpA has designed a prototype bicycle that is powered by fuel cells produced by Manhattan Scientifics.
  • Fraunhofer IGD has developed a fuel-cell powered camcorder.
