Operations: New Maintenance Metrics Launched

Oct. 30, 2013
The Society for Maintenance and Reliability Professionals released its newly revised SMRP standardized metrics in October.

If you're looking for the latest information about metrics and best-in-class target values in the maintenance and reliability arena, the Society for Maintenance and Reliability Professionals can help. The professional society released its newly revised SMRP standardized metrics, which number more than 70, in October.

The best-in-class target values are a new addition. They "give guidance on how to effectively apply the metrics and to identify 'what good looks like,'" the organization says.

The SMRP has bundled the metrics for easy searching in these categories: work identification metrics, work planning metrics, work scheduling metrics, backlog management metrics, resource management of people, and resource management of materials.

"These metrics allow organizations to measurably improve their effectiveness within their respective fields," says SMRP chair Shon Isenhour.
