Fujitsu Microelectronics, Nanya Settle Patent Disputes

Sept. 2, 2008
Companies were in litigation for three years

Fujitsu Microelectronics Ltd. of Japan and Nanya Technology Corp. of Taiwan said on Sept. 2 that they have agreed to settle their patent disputes. The companies signed a patent licensing agreement with financial arrangements to resolve the disputes.

"Nanya is pleased with the settlement reached with Fujitsu Microelectronics Ltd. and can now continue to focus on expanding its leadership in research and development in the DRAM industry," said Pei Lin Pai, vice president of Nanya Technology. "The settlement concludes three years of litigation between the parties and allows Nanya to direct its resources in technology development and services to our customers."

In August 2005, Fujitsu Microelectronics sued Nanya Technology, accusing the company of infringing its patents involving DRAM chip production. Nanya Technology countersued Fujitsu Microelectronics in the U.S. and Japan in September 2006.
