Supply Chain Execution Market Is Growing 10% Annually
Slump? What slump? Defying any suggestions of a softening economy, the worldwide market for supply chain execution (SCE) solutions -- which includes transportation management systems, warehouse management systems and collaborative production management systems -- is expected to grow at a nearly 10% clip (9.9%) over the next five years. According to analyst firm ARC Advisory Group, the SCE market was at $4.6 billion in 2006 and is projected to reach $7.4 billion by 2011.
"It is surprising how fragmented this market remains, with over 250 suppliers," observes Steve Banker, ARC's service director for supply chain management." That market includes enterprise resource planning (ERP) providers, best-of-breed suppliers and automation suppliers.
According to ARC's analysis, ERP and automation companies have gained market share at the expense of best-of-breed suppliers.
