Dasco Pro Joins Group Purchasing Organization

Manufacturer of carpentry and automotive tools to increase "buying clout" through association-sponsored GPO.

Dasco Pro Inc., a Rockford, Ill.-based manufacturer specializing in forged hand tools, crowbars, chisels and roofing tools used by carpenters and auto mechanics, recently joined the Advantage GPO (group purchasing organization) through an arrangement with the American Hardware Manufacturers Association (AHMA).

IndustryWeek reported the AHMA's initative in the July issue, which can be found here.

As the program's latest member, Dasco Pro will now be able to take advantage of significant cost savings on products and services such as steel, injection molded plastic, abrasives, packaging supplies, corrugated packaging and MRO. Robert Reitsch, partner at Dasco Pro, said that after learning about -- and further investigating -- the new AHMA initiative, the company realized there were a number of advantages to the program over and above cost savings.

"For example, some of the established vendors on the program are companies we already do business with, and because we are now part of the buying consortium, we have greater buying clout with those companies," said Reitsch. "Additionally, the peer-to-peer opportunities allow us to network with other companies to problem-solve common issues, which really cannot be measured in dollars and cents."

Interested parties can calculate potential savings rebate by visting www.ahma.org/gpo and clicking on the savings calculator. After completing a minimum of five categories and the projected annual spend in those categories, the savings calculator reveals a projected savings range. The company then requests a meeting with Advantage GPO to determine next steps and join the program.

"There is not a manufacturer in our industry today that has the luxury of being able to operate without driving savings in its supply chain," said Timothy S. Farrell, AHMA's President and CEO. "We are thrilled to announce our latest Advantage GPO member, and are currently in various stages of due diligence with several other companies wishing to join the program."
