Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner, which entered commercial service in October 2011, has been grounded worldwide since Jan. 16, 2013 because of safety concerns.

Authorities grounded the aircraft after the battery of a parked Japanese Airlines 787 caught fire Jan. 7 at Boston's Logan airport and a burned battery caused an All Nippon Airways 787 flight on Jan. 16 to make an emergency landing.
