A sampling of various companies' employee sabbatical policies from Hewitt Associates LLC's 1999-2000 SpecBook: Arrow Electronics Inc. -- 10-week sabbatical after seven years of service. Lotus Development Corp. -- four weeks' paid sabbatical after six years and 15 years of service. McDonald's Corp. -- eight-week paid sabbatical for every 10 years of service. Nike Inc. -- five-week sabbatical after 10 years of service and at five-year intervals thereafter; 50% paid and 50% from a paid-time-off bank. Ralston Purina Co. -- five-week paid sabbatical after five years of service. VLSI Technology Inc. -- four-week paid sabbatical after five years of service, plus one week for each additional five years of service.
