How much can ergonomics make a difference in productivity and preventing injury? A lot, it turns out. Since 2003, for example, Ford has reduced its assembly line injury rate by 70% by applying ergonomics research to assembly improvements and lift-assist technologies. In the past five years, Timken has cut its ergonomics risk factors each year by 20% by requiring three innovative improvements annually at each plant.
