Yesterday was a good day.
After months of development, testing and coordinated efforts, we have officially launched a new newsletter aimed directly at 3-D printing and the additive manufacturing industry—the 3D Printing 360.
The newsletter part of the launch is pretty straightforward. It is a robust collection of news, features, commentary and products that will be delivered to subscribers twice a month. It's brimming with good stories; the kind of thing I've been looking for since I began covering the industry two years ago.
The "we" of the launch, however, is a little more complicated.
At IndustryWeek, we cover a wide range of additive manufacturing case studies, best practices and industry reports. Over the years we've accumulated quite a collection of these articles, in fact.
But that isn't the full story.
To really understand 3-D printing, and to really track its value, you also have to look at it from the engineering perspective. And the design perspective. You need expert voices in supply chain and logistics, in foundry and machine tools. You need insiders in a new markets exploring the technology—whether that's in foods or farms or transportation.
You need, that is, far more than one magazine could possibly deliver.
And that's where the 3D Printing 360 comes in.
The idea was to scour the pages and digital resources of all of our sister publications across the Penton markets—from Medical Design to Farm Industry News—to find the big stories that are shaping the industry, as told by the real experts in the field.
It is, as the name implies, the first truly 360⁰ perspective on additive manufacturing—a collection of the best stories from the best dedicated sites in the industry.
And that's just the beginning.
We're one issue in now—which you can view and share here—and the next issue is being assembled now.
To follow along with that progress, all you need to do is subscribe. It’s fast and free and easy.
Also, given the collaborative nature of the project, we'd like you to be involved in the process. If you notice any perspective we're missing or any angle you'd like us to explore in the newsletter, let me know here. Or you can email me directly at [email protected].
Over the next few months, you will see this thing grow and change as we explore its possibilities and potential. I hope we can include your vision in that as well.
I'm looking forward to hearing from you. This is going to be great.
