Your article [Thought Leader: "A Yellow Light for Technology Behind the Wheel," Dec. 2010] should be "Flashing Red Light." Current digital technology is going into everyday products that tend to fail regularly! Look at sewing machines that can no longer deal with sewing off the edge of the fabric. Or coffee pots that freak out if you put too much water in them. Digital technology is sneaking into our everyday lives while still having a very high failure rate. I love computers when they work. What happens when all this connected technology gets a bug or just fails? Very scary thoughts come to mind. I have seen a CNC mill crash through tooling and into the tooling holder just because the circuit board failed at that moment. And, we are putting this digital technology into our motor vehicles? Why?
