SAP Earnings up 18% in Second Quarter

Net profit rose 18% to 831 million euros ($1 billion) in the period from April to June. Operating profit grew 15% to 1.2 billion euros on an 18% increase in revenues to 3.9 billion euros.

German software giant SAP said its bottom-line profits grew sharply in the second quarter as software sales topped record levels.

SAP said its net profit rose 18% to 831 million euros ($1 billion) in the period from April to June.

Operating profit grew 15% to 1.2 billion euros on an 18% increase in revenues to 3.9 billion euros.

Software revenues alone were up 26% at 1.1 billion euros, while support revenues increased 15% to 2 billion euros, the company said.

Looking ahead to the full year, the software maker said it is sticking to its target for operating profit of between 5.1 billion and 5.3 billion euros, compared with 4.7 billion euros in 2011.

Sales of software and software-related services are expected to grow 10% to 12%, it said.
