To address sales and marketing challenges, manufacturers are going to increase spending on e-business and redevelop their Web sites in 2005, according to a study conducted by SVM E-Business Solutions, a Parsippany, N.J.-based provider of Web solutions.

Indeed, the study "Manufacturers Embrace E-Business," found that 62% of manufacturers will be recreating their Web sites in 2005. When asked about strategic objectives for their Web sites, respondents listed theses top five objectives: provide information about the company (88%); generate sales leads (70%); improve brand awareness (66%); enhance customer service (55%); improve sales force and distributor communication (32%).

Additionally, when asked how important e-business is to their company's current needs, 83% of respondents consider it to be important and 77% state that it is extremely or very important.

"Manufacturing marketing executives clearly realize the impact e-business has on their company's success," says Bob DeStefano, president of SVM E-Business Solutions. "After sitting on the e-business sidelines for the past few years, manufacturers are ready to step up their online marketing initiatives to achieve business results."
