IMTS 2014: Technology Preview [SLIDESHOW]

Aug. 15, 2014
This year, the show is about collaborative robots loading CNCs, it's about communicating machines, it's about smart sensors and smart analytics, it's about hybrid 3-D printing and tooling. And mostly, it's about the full convergence between data and production.

The theme of IMTS 2014 is "come together" – a sentiment that seems to describe both the massive social gathering it represents and the technologies it will showcase.

This year's show will highlight all of the latest advances in machine tool technologies – from multi-axis lathes and grinders to the bits that drive them. But the real excitement this year is around the interaction between these tools and the peripheral technologies that make up the full manufacturing ecosystem.

This year, the show is about collaborative robots loading CNCs, it's about communicating machines, it's about smart sensors and smart analytics, it's about hybrid 3-D printing and tooling. And mostly, it's about the full convergence between data and production.

This slideshow highlights some of the tools attendees will see at the show working together to help crate the next evolution of manufacturing technology.
