The pandemic has not slowed down manufacturers’ digital transformation efforts. In fact, digitalization initiatives are progressing at a rapid pace as manufacturers seek ways to address challenges they have encountered over the past year and a half.
In an effort to gauge the current state of digitalization throughout manufacturing, IndustryWeek and Hitachi Vantara recently conducted a survey of manufacturing leaders about their digital transformation progress.
The responses to the questionnaire demonstrate a bullish approach to digitalization. This includes:
- Nearly half of participants who identified as being in the advanced stages of the digital transformation.
- More than half of participants who agree that production KPI reporting will be automated within the next one to two years.
The report also highlights many adoption challenges that manufacturers continue to grapple with, including:
- Forty-two percent of all respondents who cited “too much focus on running current operations,” as their top challenge for continued progress.
- Only one-quarter of all respondents use a dedicated digital platform.
