Wal-Mart to Add 22,000 U.S. Jobs in 2009

Company says they are proud to be able to add jobs for Americans

Top retailer Wal-Mart said on June 4 that it plans to create 22,000 jobs in its U.S. stores. The jobs will be to staff new or expanded stores.

The company said it would hire store management, pharmacists, human resource managers, customer service associates, cashiers and sales associates among other staff.

"During this difficult economic time, we're proud to be able to create quality jobs for thousands of Americans this year," said Eduardo Castro-Wright, vice chairman of Wal-Mart Stores. "Job creation is just one way in which were working hard every day to help people across this country live better."

In October, Wal-Mart announced plans to open 142 to 157 new or expanded stores during the 2010 fiscal year in the U.S.
