Italian Industrial Output Falls 1.4%

Biggest fall since Sept. 2007

After an increase of 0.7% in April, industrial output in Italy fell by 1.4% in May, Istat showed on May 10. This was the biggest monthly fall since September 2007.

The 12-month figure, after seasonal adjustment for the number of working days, showed a fall of 4.1%.

The energy sector showed the biggest contraction, falling in May by 3.7% in the month and by 6.9% over 12 months.
