The Brazilian economy grew by 2.3% in 2005 from the previous year, the state Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics said Feb. 24. The expansion of gross domestic product last year underperformed the central bank's forecast of a 2.6% rise and the 2.5% seen in market estimates.
