British Manufacturing Stronger At Start of Third Quarter

Compared with data for the previous month and helped by a strong rise in production of chemicals and man-made fibers British manufacturing output climbed by 0.2% in July, official data showed on Sept. 6.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) revealed that manufacturing output, which excludes energy and mineral extraction, rose in July in-line with analysts' consensus forecast and compared with a rise of 0.1% in June.

On a 12-month basis, manufacturing output, which accounts for 14.7% of overall economic activity, was 1% higher in July, beating analyst forecasts.

Industrial production, which includes manufacturing output as well as mining, quarrying and utilities, rose by 0.2% in July from June.
