Company obtains AS9100 certification, which should lead to more work in the aerospace industry, according to JBE.

JBE Inc., a Hartsville, S.C.-based provider of manufacturing services to the aerospace, automotive and lawn and garden industries, is adding 20 new jobs as a result of a new contract with Pure Power Technologies.

The state has agreed to provide a $25,000 rural infrastructure-fund grant to the company.

JBE also announced that it has obtained AS9100 certification, which is widely recognized as the standard in quality-management systems in the aerospace industry. The company said the certification "will enable JBE to provide an expanded portfolio of deliverables and service necessary to the aerospace industry."

"This is further affirmation that we deliver superior quality to our Fortune 500 customers, and now we can add expanded services to Boeing and aerospace companies throughout the United States," JBE President Jerry Ellison said. "The AS9100 will translate into even more new jobs, which will undoubtedly help strengthen the economy in our region."

JBE had help from the South Carolina Department of Commerce, the South Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership and the Darlington County Economic Development Partnership.

JBE provides services such as subassembly, warehousing distribution, vendor-managed inventory, kitting, inspection and packaging.
