The eurozone unemployment rate edged up in March to 8.9% of the workforce from 8.8% the previous month, seasonally adjusted data released May 10 by Eurostat showed.

The European Union (EU)'s statistics arm said the February figure was a revision from an earlier estimate of 8.9%.

Over one year, the unemployment rate has changed little in the eurozone because it stood at 8.8% in March 2004. In the full 25-nation EU, unemployment stood at 8.9% in March, which was unchanged from February and slightly lower than the 9.0% registered in March 2004.
