Site will be Wipro Infrastructure Engineerings first in China.

Wipro Infrastructure Engineering, a Bangalore, India-based manufacturer of hydraulic cylinders, has signed an agreement with the Wujin Hi-tech Industrial Zone in Changzhou, China, to set up a large manufacturing facility there.

The plant will manufacture high-pressure hydraulic cylinders and tipping systems using CNC machining, robotic welding, induction hardening and other machinery, according to the company.

The plant will leverage the nearby industrial areas to develop a high-quality vendor base for sourcing of raw materials and machined components, the company said. It will employ managers, engineers and trained operators to run and manage the high-tech machinery and equipment.

Wipro noted that its future plans for the site include the creation of an R&D facility. Wipro also plans to establish a service network to support its products across China.

We are very excited to be in Chinathe worlds largest market for hydraulic cylinders and related products, said Anurag Behar, chief executive of Wipro Infrastructure Engineering. The company is the global hydraulics business of Wipro Ltd.

Wipros high-pressure double-acting cylinders made in China will be targeted to manufacturers of excavators, loaders, backhoe loaders, dozers, dumpers, motor graders and farm equipment. The telescopic cylinders will be geared toward makers of tippers, dump trucks, refuse vehicles and garbage compactors, according to Wipro.

As an advanced manufacturing base, our five pillar industries are machinery, electronics and IT, renewable energy, advanced materials and bio-pharmaceuticals, said Shen Ruiqing, a member of the standing committee of Changzhou CPC and the secretary-general of Wujin CPC. Wipros hydraulic cylinder project is in sync with the plan and direction of industrial development of Changzhou. At Changzhou, we offer an edge in terms of qualified suppliers, industrial clusters and a broad domestic market.
